John currently supervises mature practitioners, working within elite sports, on Phd and Professional Doctorate programmes for the Institute of Coaching and Performance, at the University of Central Lancashire. Previously, he worked as a medal winning Coach at the Athens ’04 Paralympics; Head of S&C for GB Athletics at the Beijing ’08 Olympics; as an SC Coach for Irish rugby during the 6-Nation winning campaigns of 2014 and 2015, and will be at this Summers football World cup with the Egyptian National team.

John has also written a number of publications on various aspects of Sports Coaching and Sports Science.

Hamstring Resilience: Evolving an information-driven practice

Hamstring injuries are pervasive, in a wide variety of sports. Time lost to hamstring injury is costly, both financially and in terms of performance. Despite the prevalence of hamstring injuries there is little agreement on the best way to protect hamstrings from injury. This seminar blends practical experiences with emerging technologies to formulate a more coherent, and effective, way forward.
